Safety Person

Safey Persons are essential to the success of a season. They help keep our players safe and are mandatory to be on the roster and on the bench during each practice and each game. SMHA recommends having more than 2 volunteers be rostered as the team's Safety Persons.

Requirements for Safety Persons include:

  • Hockey Canada Registry ID
  • Respect in Sport for Hockey Canada Activity Leaders
  • Trainer/Safety - Hockey Canada Safety Program
  • Concussion Awareness Training Tool certification
  • Criminal Record Check for Vulnerable Sector

Hockey Canada Registry ID

All Voluntees require a Hockey Canada Registry ID number to become a rostered team official as a manager.

If you have played minor hockey in the last 15 years, you may already have one.
Please check for an HCR # and current qualifications at https://myaccount.spordle.com/en/login
If you don’t have one, or aren’t sure if you have one, please contact our Risk Manager and provide your full legal name, address with move in year, email, phone, and date of birth. The move in date is mandatory.
