Volunteers Make it Happen

Parents and Volunteers are essential to the success of our Association.

The SMHA is an all volunteer based organization and depends on the volunteer assistance of its members to function successfully.  In helping our members develop a community within our Association, SMHA runs a Parent Volunteer Deposit Program.

Each SMHA family is required to volunteer for a minimum of 10 hours unless they have paid the volunteer opt-out fee.  It is important to note, we prefer to have families complete a volunteer commitment and contribute to the success of our association than pay the opt-out fee.  If you have more than one player in the association, you are note required to volunteer 20 hours although, we always welcome more assistance.  All volunteer hours need to be tracked and submitted to the team volunteer manager.

Examples of volunteer tasks include, but not limited to; on-ice helper, safety person (HCSP), time keeping, scorekeeping, jersey parent, team treasurer, fundraising coordinator, social coordinator, board set up crew, event or tournament volunteer.  Further details will be included in the parent manual online.

It is people like you who give children the opportunity to play ice hockey.  Whether you can offer a helping hand for a single event or you want to help through the season and beyond, Squamish Minor Hockey welcomes your support.
